We deal with the IRS so you don’t have to
Brooks is an EA, licensed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the IRS. That means we can represent you in audits, collections, and appeals, and speak with the IRS on your behalf.
- Notices and lettersWe review what the IRS or the Oklahoma Tax Commission is asking, explain it in plain English, and respond for you.
- AuditsWe prepare your records, handle the communication, and represent you through the process.
- CollectionsIf a balance is owed, we work through the options available, such as payment plans.
- AppealsIf you disagree with a result, we help you take the next step.
Protection starts before the notice
The best audit defense is a well-documented year. Because we keep your books, plan your taxes, and prepare your returns, your records are organized and your strategies are documented as they happen. If a question ever comes, the support is already in place.
- Strategies documented as they’re usedReasonable salary files, accountable plan records, meeting minutes, and more.
- Clean monthly booksReconciled accounts that match your returns.
- One team, one fileThe people who prepared your return are the people who represent you.
Questions about IRS representation
I just got an IRS letter. What should I do?
Don’t ignore it, and don’t call the IRS before you understand what it’s asking. Contact us with a copy of the letter. Most notices have a response deadline, so it helps to act quickly.
Is representation included in my plan?
Help with IRS and state notices is part of working with us. The scope for audits and larger matters is set when we price your plan, so you’ll know what’s covered before you commit.
Can you talk to the IRS for me?
Yes. Because Brooks is licensed to represent taxpayers before the IRS, we can speak with the IRS on your behalf in notices, audits, collections, and appeals. Many tax preparers can’t represent you in an audit or collection.
Do you only help with the IRS?
No. We also respond to state tax notices, including from the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
